Serving Kankakee For Over 90 Years!

The Kankakee Valley Park District exists to acquire, develop and maintain parks; promote the conservation of natural and historical resources, and provide recreational facilities, programs, and services for the benefit of all District residents.

Established in 1925, The District serves the 36,000 residents of Aroma Park and Kankakee Townships. It is governed by five elected Park Board of Commissioners, and employs 10 full-time staff and approximately 70 part-time, seasonal, and temporary workers.

FOIA Compensation Statement

In compliance with the Open Meeting Act, you may obtain Kankakee Valley Park District financial statements and audits by calling the Executive Director during office hours at (815) 939-1311 to set up an appointment. PA 97-0609 Open Meetings Act (5 ILCS 120/7.3)

In accordance with The Open Meetings Act (Public Act 097-0609), Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) employers must post the compensation package for each employee exceeding $75,000 per year and the vacation and sick days granted for the year.

The compensation information required for employers participating in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) under Public Act 97-0609 is available for public inspection at the Kankakee Valley Park District Administrative Office, 893 W. Station Street, Kankakee IL 60901, between the hours of 8:30 am and 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.

IMRF "Employer Cost & Participant Information"

In 2019, the Illinois General Assembly passed Public Act 101-0504. The law requires IMRF to post certain employer cost and participation information on its website. IMRF will update these reports annually.

Prevailing Wage Ordinance

NOTICE of Adoption of Prevailing Wage Ordinance 1.90

Take notice that the Board of Commissioners of the Kankakee Valleys Park District of Kankakee, IL, pursuant to “An Act regulating wages of laborers, mechanics and other workers employed in any public works by the State, county, city or any public body or any political subdivision or by anyone under contract for public works,” effective July 1, 1941, as amended, has determined on, and as effective from June 1, 2019, that the general prevailing rate of wages in this locality for laborers, mechanics and other workers engaged in the construction of public works coming under the jurisdiction of the Kankakee Valley Park District is the same as determined by the Department of Labor of the State of Illinois for Kankakee County as of August 1, 2018.

A copy of the full Ordinance and the Department of Labor determination is available for inspection by any interested party in the admin building office of the Kankakee Valley Park District, 893 W Station Street, Kankakee, Illinois, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. of each business day and to any employer; association of employers and any person of employee or association of employees who have filed, or file their names & addresses, requesting copies of the same.

2024-25 Budget and Appropriation Ordinance

LEGAL NOTICE

There will be a Public Hearing on the FY 2024-2025 Budget and Appropriation Ordinance for the Kankakee Valley Park District. on Monday, July 29, 2024 at 5:00pm at Bird Park Administrative Building 893 W. Station Street, Kankakee, IL 60901.  The public is invited to attend to review and hear comments on the proposed Budget and Appropriation.  The proposed Budget and Appropriation has been on public display in the Park District Office, 893 W. Station Street, Kankakee, IL 60901 for 30 days since June 24, 2024.  Questions may be directed to Dayna Heitz, during regular business hours.

Efficiency Report

The Kankakee Valley Park District (“Park District”) formed its Committee on Local Government Efficiency on March 27, 2023, to study efficiencies and report recommendations regarding those efficiencies and increased accountability pursuant to 50 ILCS 70/1, et seq. (the “Committee”).
