Board Meetings are generally scheduled for the fourth Monday of each month.
All meetings are held at the Bird Park Admin Building conference room, located at 893 W Station St, Kankakee, Illinois, at 5:00 p.m., unless otherwise noted.
The Public is invited to take out nominating petitions for Kankakee Valley Park District Board of Commissioners 2025 Consolidated Election.
At the consolidated election to be held April 1, 2025, two Commissioners for the Kankakee Valley Park District will be elected for four-year terms expiring in April of 2030. The Kankakee Valley Park District encourages those interested in becoming a Park Commissioner to attend Park Board meetings and contact to schedule a meeting with Ross C. Bruni the Kankakee Valley Park District Executive Director to learn more about the duties, schedules of meetings, park facilities, programs, and current projects.
Park Board meetings are held the fourth Monday of every month at 5:00pm at the Bird Park Administration Building, 893 W Station Street, Kankakee, IL, 60901. To schedule a meeting with Ross C. Bruni, please call the Bird Park Administration Office at 815.939.1311.
To be eligible to serve as Park Commissioner a person must be a qualified voter residing in the Park District for at least one year prior to the election. Further, Illinois law requires that any person who is in arrears in the payment of a tax or other indebtedness due to the park district or who has been convicted of any infamous crime, bribery, perjury, or other felony cannot serve on a park board.
Nominating Petitions may be picked up at the Bird Park Administrative Office of the Park District at 893 W Station Street from 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M., Monday through Friday. Nominating petitions must be filed by 5:00 PM on November 18, 2024 at the Bird Park Administration Building at 893 W. Station St., Kankakee IL 60901.
The Kankakee Valley Park District formed its Committee on Local Government Efficiency on June 10, 2022, to study efficiencies and report recommendations regarding those efficiencies and increased accountability.
